Managing a building or remodeling project means keeping up with a myriad of details, as any trade professional knows. Now, GE offers help in the form of BuildWithGE.com, a website that offers convenient access to a wide variety of practical information — without the need to register, or remember a password or sign in.

“With this launch, we have created a public website that caters exclusively to our builders and trade partners, and further reinforces our commitment to maintaining our position as the number one supplier of major appliances to U.S. homebuilders,” said Maggie Kassebaum, manager of customer contacts.

The site offers several resources that can by used by builders, designers, and consumers.  These include a design center, product information, and energy efficiency programs.

Design Center

The interactive kitchen design center allows consumers and designers to visualize what different appliances will look like in their space with their finishes.

With one click of the mouse wall colors, counter tops, flooring, and appliance colors can be selected and changed in the virtual kitchen. There are several floor plans available to help consumers select the finishes and appliances that are best for their kitchen.

Product Library

Users can view GE’s full product line easily from the Product Library by searching for either the type of appliance or a model number.

Information such as appliance specifications, installation instructions, photos, and dimensions are easily accessed. Direct comparison of selected products allows consumers to be sure they are making the right choice.

Energy Efficiency

The site includes a “Think Globally, Build Smart” section, designed to help customers choose solutions that save money and use less natural resources.

The information includes GE’s Energy Star compliant appliances and GE’s own energy efficiency programs and products: ecomagination Homebuilder Program, the Nucleus energy manager with Brillion Technology, and the GeoSpring hybrid water heater.

BuildwithGE was introduced at the 2011 International Builders’ Show, the annual trade show and exhibition hosted by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

“The site was very well received by the builders who attended the show and clearly reinforces our leadership position in the homebuilder business,” said Matt Rose, general manager contract sales.
