Whether you’re building a backyard chicken coop or a DIY storage shed, you’ll want a roof that keeps your stuff out of the elements and that looks good, too. If you’re lucky, that new roof would even be made of something that was cheap and readily available.
Even better: that new roof could be made of something that you’ve already bought and used, and that you were about to throw out.
That’s where this great project, from an Instructables user who identifies himself as “Robbtoberfest”, comes in. Basically, it’s a DIY roof made from repurposed aluminum soda and beer cans that have been cut and laid in a way that, I think, looks fantastic! As for how green or durable an aluminum can-shingled roof might be? “I haven’t tested this long term,” says Robbtoberfest, “but it seems to work fine on my chicken coop.”
