Danmer’s Eco-Friendly Custom Shutters Reduce Energy Consumption

September 7, 2011

Improperly insulated windows are one of the easiest ways to suffer heat loss and larger energy consumption. While blinds and draperies can help, hardwood shutters are much more efficient insulators. And among shutters, Danmer’s new Thermalite Shutter Insulating System can best help to solve this problem by reducing energy consumption and cutting heat loss or gain through windows.

According to a Danmer press release, the Thermalite shutters provide as much as three times the insulation of typical wood shutters, and can reduce home energy bill by up to 35 percent.

The Thermalite shutters are made of entirely non-toxic, synthetic polymer foam, meaning that, unlike wood shutters, no natural resources are destroyed in the manufacturing process. Thermalite is also flame retardant and water resistant, so it will last longer than wood shutters. However, they still look and feel like wood, so you don’t have to sacrifice aesthetics for better and more eco-friendly functionality.
