BioFuels Development International Plans To Begin Biodiesel Production In Q3 Of 2013
BioFuels Development International, LLC announces that its subsidiary Channel BioRefinery & Terminals, LLC (CB&T) will commence the production of biodiesel in the third Quarter of 2013. BDI launched CB&T with the acquisition of Green Hunter BioFuels on October 1, 2012. CB&T has spent the last 90 days evaluating it options for reentry into the biodiesel market and has secured the necessary technical and financial resources to commence production.
CB&T will execute a multi-phased approach to reentry into the market, initially restarting production at a 30M gallon per year throughput rate with an expected increase to 75M gallons per year in the next 12 months. Utilizing a combination of domestic and foreign feedstock, primarily taken out of waste streams, CB&T will be a feedstock agnostic supply train driven operation taking advantage of its location on Greens Bayou which connects to the Houston Ship Channel.
“We are excited to have identified all of the needs to reenter the biodiesel market and are ahead of schedule with this process,” stated Ken Brown, CB&T’s CEO. “Our vision of a Supply Train Driven alternative energy facility has the potential to significantly advance how the industry looks at BioRefineries.”
BDI also acquired, along with its partners, 27 acres in Plaquemine, LA adjacent to the DOW Chemical facility. This property is designated for a new biorefinery development and will utilize the same supply train driven approach as CB&T is executing. The property has a deep-water terminal and rail.
“It is our goal to become a significant participant in the BioFuels Business Segment in the next 24 to 36 months,” stated Alex H. Edwards III, BDI’s Chairman of the Board. “We have located our two projects in areas that will allow us to take advantage of all transportation options which we think is clear to a Supply Chain driven business model.”
