Ever wished that elevator would travel just that little bit faster so you wouldn’t be late for your meeting? Or maybe the sales in the store on the third level were running out and you needed the elevator to hurry up? Well Mitsubishi have just announced elevators that will be capable of traveling faster than 1,000 metres per minute, or 60 kilometres per hour.
The new technology announced on Friday will also come with “enhanced efficiency, comfort and safety.”
According to the press release from Mitsubishi Electric, these new technologies will be incorporated into the world’s fastest elevators including those developed for the 632-metre high Shanhai Tower currently under construction in Shanhai, China.
Mitsubishi provided a full list of advancements which I’ll paste in below, but one really has to ask the serious question: how fast is too fast for an elevator to travel? Because, personally speaking, I can see myself being more than happy to take the stairs if these death-boxes elevators get too fast.
