RTA Studio has received 20 plus awards for architecture and
interior design internationally.
Two of their elaborate and creative designs that have brought
re-use and new architectural designs nicely together are the Ironbank Building
and 440 Richmond Road.
Both are located in Auckland, New Zealand and were designed
for their client Sampson Corporation Limited.
440 Richmond Road is a building located and connecting a
butcher shop with a 1930’s building with a modern glass reinforced concrete façade
in a re-used structure.
The Ironbank Building was the first as-built building to
receive the five-star Greenstar rating from the New Zealand Green Building
Council. It has been featured in many publications for its mixture of a
historic site with modern façade & twists. It is ecologically sustainably
designed and is a mix-use structure.
These two examples from this one unique firm is a welcome
reminder of why I am doing what I am doing and in what direction I hope to be
heading. Everyone can use a little reminder every once in a while that they are
on the right track and that their choices can lead to the right path.
