Iowa City’s new East Side Recycling Center will be a green building to behold. The new building, scheduled to open later this year, is being built with sustainable and energy- efficient designs that will make it a one-stop green hub for the city.

Once again, GE Appliances & Lighting has been awarded Energy Star’s highest award. This is the sixth year that GE has received the ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). GE has been offering more than 750 ENERGY STAR-qualified lighting and appliance products, all aimed at helping consumers reduce their energy spending and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The global population is estimated to stand at 6.7 billion, what’s more, this figure will rise to approximately 9 billion by 2050. How we go about feeding all of these humans is an increasing concern. What we do know is that our current farming methods are not efficient enough to produce adequate food for the world’s population. It is believed that eco-farming, or ‘agroecology’, could double the crop yield in poor countries over the course of a decade.
The disposable writing industry has undergone significant changes in an era that now takes into account measures like green and sustainable performance. Part of the Pentel initiative with an environmental focus mandates using both recycled content and post-consumer recycled content in the products it manufactures.
