The real problem with LEED and why even Eco friendly architects turn there back is the additional overhead it requires. Both natural resources and real time and high dollar costs are required for a certified LeED building to jump through the USGBC hoops. It is nothing more than a scam. Build well, save resources!

"New LEED requirements being introduced this year include a “carbon overlay” that should bring many of the survey respondents back into the fold"

Many clues:
1. "new" - shouldn't they be there already?
2 "being introduced" - ditto
3. "carbon overlay" - "overlay"??? what is more crucial than climate friendliness?
4. "back into the fold" supercilious, market-driven me-too-ism

There is not the sense that climate change is taken seriously.

Maybe the decline in popularity is related to the difficulty of the test. I was able to pass the exam the first time I took it however I was only one of 4 out of 8 co workers who successfully passed. This even though our company provided us with CLEAN EDISON education instructors. They actually were awesome and gave us a lot of useful tips..probably a lot more help than we could ask for however the exam is just that difficult. I still think it is VERY much a great certification to have and well worth the hard work.
