Um, you have no clue. $4500 a year does not cover the cost of actually living in the Bay Area while attending Berkeley. Most Berkeley students I know graduate with whopping debt.

You are right Pecan. It is a sad thing. The people there now are everyday families, dog walkers and paragliders.

But the lasting and beautiful works created by those who were (are) literally transient is the irony of the place.

it’ll survive the bulldozers because the structures are sterilized of the people who worked to build it. look back at the photographs, a roped fence and an asphalt road remind us that its now a “safe” place to be, a place that has been “cleaned” up. houseless peoples are not transient by choice.
