I am working on a green homes project in the UK and I am very interested in this post and others like it... I am just starting out of a journey to change older homes to highly insulated and effective green machines...

This is a cool project. While I agree with Jacob that from an environmental standpoint it's not "perfect", it's a really great example of a parntership between the developer and community, and certainly wouldn't have been achieved without it. Also, I believe Lorig's investment partner on the project is Stellar Holdings, which does a lot of green rental apartments in Sweden. Cool stuff - wish we had more of it in Seattle!

Hi,

I liked this post -- and good for the mall. Will be looking forward to reading more here in the future. I will also be featuring some information about real estate projects my company is working on in the near future. You can check my blog to stay up to date on that.

Actually, the creek, while it is being daylighted, is a compromise between environmental groups and the builders. Environmental groups would like to see the section designated as a creek, which requires a natural green zone of 50' (NO development) on either side if I remember correctly. Instead they have it designated as a "channel" which means it gets daylighted but they can develop all they want around it. It's an improvement over the pipe under an underutilized parking lot but it's not perfect.

On another note I saw a group of guys on strike outside the site today, I guess they're the guys who install fire suppression sprinklers. Only like 10 of them though so I don't know how much they'll change.
