I have recently just finished remodeling my home kitchen. The contractors used many energy efficent appliances that not only look amazing but have made us save a fortune when it came to our monthly bills. A great website that we got to choose all of our fixtures from was Wall Fixtures. They show great organization and their customer service I found was extremely helpful.

The countertop option with the highest recycled content is Vetrazzo. It is a full 85% by weight glass, 100% of which is recycled. Also there is no petroleum in the binder only cement, water and few proprietary ingredients. You can read more about the benefits of reycycled glass countertops at www.recycledglasscountertops.com.

Don't forget about other certifications. Most cabinets are made from temperate hardwoods that fall under other certifications than FSC. FSC has done a great job protecting indigenous plants, animals, and people in Tropical regions that have been exploited by logging in the past. But because the lands surrounding the temperate forests (Europe and North America in particular) are more developed and civilized, this is of less importance. Utilizing these resources closest to us is a great way to make sure we are being as green as we can!!
