		<description>The residential construction tax credits were extended to December 31, 2008 by the previous Congress.  Existing home credits were not extended.

The biggest thing to know about the new home credits is the builder must build his/her envelope (windows, walls, floor, ceiling, etc) to the 2004 IECC prescriptive level.  (http://www.energypolicytaxcredits.com/IECC%20Tables.html)

If the builder is no where near the 2004 table if will cost the builder more to build the house to the tax credit level than the $2000 tax credit they will get next year.
