		<description>I&#039;m a novelist living in Scotland. My publishers belong to Hachette Livre UK, which represents 17% of Britain&#039;s publishing industry. For a long time I&#039;ve been worrying about Hachette&#039;s paper buying. When I plucked up the courage to investigate, I learned that my publishers are &#039;the rogues of the industry&#039;, according to Greenpeace UK.

Now, I&#039;m not a big name and my novels, to date, have sold poorly. In order to put real pressure on Hachette Livre UK to move towards FSC and recycled paper, I have written to about 30 major authors on their various lists. You can find out more here, on my blog:

So far, I&#039;ve had a limited response. But two of the UK&#039;s biggest selling authors have told me that they have made it a contractual obligation on Hachette to print their books, henceforth, on FSC accredited paper.

Which goes to prove the effectiveness of pester power.</description>
